Poland 2021, 70 min, Polish, Hebrew & English subtitles

Outwardly, the secluded existence led by Danusia and her daughter Basia may seem ominous. Living in a remote, rundown house surrounded by a vast wilderness that poses many a challenge, they are almost completely cut off from human contact. But as we get to know the pair, a different picture emerges. Despite moments of loneliness, their routine and simple everyday chores are a source of peace and satisfaction. In the company of animals—cows, goats, cats, and dogs—they find precious love. They have traded away the noise of modern living for stories, ancient folktales, dreams and visions of spirits and demons, and devout Catholicism. Director Karol Palka shows delicate, mesmerizing moments of hope, sadness, anxiety, and happiness in two women’s lives.
