Poland 2021, 100 min, Polish, Hebrew & English subtitles
For two years, Polish filmmaker Paweł Łoziński stood on his balcony in Warsaw and filmed the passersby. Young and old, suspicious and amiable, chatty and melancholy—all saw in his microphone an invitation to talk about themselves, and almost without noticing, they shared with him their most personal stories. Łoziński listens and steers the conversation with gentle curiosity, knowing to pull at the threads handed to him by those who want to be encouraged to talk. He listens to conspiracy theories and family secrets, financial troubles and religious musings; he talks to a fashion-addicted Instagrammer, and a man who lost his partner after 40 years of keeping their gay relationship a secret. Each of them deserves their own movie, and together they weave into a funny, gentle, and touching story.
