Alessia Zecchini has been dreaming of breaking freediving records her whole life. Stephen Keenan, a fellow diving addict, is an expert “safety diver,” tasked with ensuring other divers’ safe return from the depths. When the two met, the connection was instantaneous, and with it came an obsessive commitment to a shared dream: diving into the Blue Hole of Dahab, one of the world’s most beautiful and dangerous places. The two trained hard and planned the descent carefully, but something went wrong. Told against the backdrop of countless stunning underwater photographs taken during their dives, theirs is a dramatic story about pushing the limits of human ability but also about love, wonder, fascination, trust, and the dedication required of those who engage in the riskiest of extreme sports.
