Italy / Denmark 2023, 9 min, English, Hebrew & English subtitles

On the phone with his mother and two sisters, the filmmaker coaxes them to talk about the two pugs that died around the time the family moved. He was just a little boy back then, yet his memory of the event is remarkably vivid and clear. Gazing upon his elderly dog and newborn son, he is plagued with doubt: What really happened back then? With great sensitivity, using minimalist animation and nostalgic filters, Brett Allen Smith takes an intimate look at a seemingly small event that had a tremendous and lasting impact, stirring up family drama and bringing to light a long-repressed truth.
