“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” This Leonardo da Vinci quote sets the tone for a dizzyingly beautiful documentary that explores the most extreme activity there is: BASE jumping. For seven years, filmmakers Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau followed three couples whose love for each other is rivaled only by their love for this dangerous, gravity-defying sport. Whether it is a cliff in Utah, the Swiss Alps, or a mountain in Greece or Norway, they will step off of it and into the abyss, armed only with parachutes and wingsuits, daring to fly too close to the sun, or in this case, dive headfirst into the ground. Through intimate interviews and breathtaking aerial photography, Fly examines the delicate balance between passion and sacrifice.
