According to painter Ricardo Cavallo, true life is a life dedicated to creative pursuits. His small seaside house doubles as an atelier, full of countless paintings and shelves laden with books. There he lives, devout as a priest and austere as a monk, praying to the great masters, gazing in wide-eyed wonder at everything he finds beautiful, whether it be an 18th-century fresco, millennia-old cave paintings, or a tree stump. He passes his enthusiasm on to his young pupils too, and in this film, directed by his close friend, renowned filmmaker Barbet Schroeder, he gives us an insightful lesson on analyzing works of art and understanding the world around them.
