Agnès Varda, one of the greatest French filmmakers of all time, began her artistic career as part of the New Wave and never stopped reinventing herself or her filmmaking. In the last two decades of her life, she proved that she had yet to peak creatively by winning one Oscar and being nominated for another, and her films made her no less than a superstar.
It turns out, however, that her personal story is no less extraordinary than her films. Viva Varda! presents a new perspective on this iconic persona, offering a rare glimpse into her life and the source of her creative drive using never-before-seen footage from her public and private archives, conversations with her children, photographs chronicling her marriage to filmmaker Jacques Demy, and interviews with an impressive lineup of her colleagues.
