Romania 2023, 23 min, Romanian, Hebrew & English subtitles

Six siblings gather in their deceased father’s small, crowded house. In one room, his casket lies open as relatives and acquaintances pass by to bid him farewell. In the nights and days leading up to the funeral, the siblings try to adhere to both religious customs and social distancing regulations while staying optimistic with a healthy dosage of humor. Technology ensures that even the brother who could not attend due to pandemic restrictions can see and hear everything, from the burial preparations to a live stream of the funeral itself. While this family doc takes place in a village in Romania, there is something so familiar about these scenes: the macabre humor and nostalgic sentimentality, the bursts of laughter and tears, and the rituals of mourning and saying goodbye that bring the whole family closer together.
